Our Trempealeau Elementary first graders had an amazing day exploring the great outdoors at the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge! This local treasure, located just minutes from our school, offered the perfect backdrop for students to deepen their understanding of how the seasons change here in Wisconsin.
During their visit, students observed the signs of fall all around them—colorful leaves, migrating birds, and the crisp autumn air. Guided by refuge staff and their teachers, they explored trails, asked questions, and made real-world connections to their classroom learning.
This hands-on experience brought science to life in the best way possible. From noticing how animals prepare for winter to identifying the different colors and textures of the season, our first graders learned that nature is the greatest classroom of all.
We’re so grateful to the Trempealeau Wildlife Refuge for welcoming our students and inspiring curiosity about the world around them. Hands-on learning + fresh air truly made for a day to remember!
