It was a wonderful (and a little muddy!) day for our Trempealeau Elementary Kindergarten Classes as they headed out to Schwertel’s Farm for a hands-on fall learning experience! The trip has become one of our favorite autumn traditions, giving students the chance to explore the beauty and hard work of farm life up close.
During their visit, students learned about farm animals and how they’re cared for, discovered what goes into feeding and maintaining the animals, and explored rows of pumpkins, flowers, and vegetables grown right here in our community. For many, it was their first time seeing where so much of our food and fall fun begins—and their excitement was contagious!
Beyond the fun, the trip offered meaningful connections to science and social studies lessons happening in classrooms. Students saw firsthand how farmers work with the land and the seasons, deepening their understanding of plants, animals, and community life in Wisconsin.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Schwertel’s Farm for their continued generosity. For several years, they have donated their time and covered the cost of visits and pumpkins for all of our students. Their kindness and community spirit make this memorable experience possible year after year.
We’re so grateful for our local partners who help our students learn beyond the classroom walls—and who remind us that the best lessons often come with a little dirt on our shoes!
