Outdoor Learning

Last week, Trempealeau Elementary students spent the day embracing the season and the great outdoors during our annual Fall Outdoor Learning Day — a celebration of hands-on exploration, creativity, and connection with nature.

From the moment students stepped outside, the energy was contagious. Throughout the day, classes rotated through a variety of engaging outdoor activities that combined fun and learning in meaningful ways. Students helped kick off our brand-new Hammock Garden, a peaceful space designed for reading, reflection, and relaxation in nature. They also created art from recycled materials, turning everyday items into colorful masterpieces while learning about sustainability and caring for the Earth.

One of the most popular stations of the day featured a campfire and s’mores, where students roasted marshmallows, shared stories, and experienced the simple joy of being together outdoors. Other activities encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and appreciation for the natural world—all while enjoying the crisp autumn air.

These kinds of experiences are at the heart of what makes Trempealeau Elementary so special. Fall Outdoor Learning Day not only connects students to their environment but also to one another—building curiosity, creativity, and community in every activity.

We can’t wait to continue our outdoor adventures throughout the school year. These are the memory-making moments that make learning come alive at Trempealeau Elementary!
